When Do We Get Saved?

When does a person receives salvation?

Does a person receive salvation when he accept Jesus into his life or is it after baptism? Can it be after we die or when rapture occurs? When do we receive salvation? Maybe salvation is something that we work towards achieving?

sozo is the greek word for Saved and has the basic meaning of rescuing one from great peril, to protect, keep alive, preserve life, deliver, heal, be made whole. in this case its been used to mean preservation or spiritual life. while Soteria is the greek word for salvation, which is a noun for sozo-saved. Salvation is a work of God. However, salvation is not simply a work that happens when we are born again. It is a work that continues till we are made into the full image of Christ. It will end at death or at the rapture, whichever happens first

Salvation is a process.

I believe that salvation is an on going process in the life of a christian right from the time that we receive Christ in our lives. Ephesians 2:8 speaks of salvation as something that has already occurred. It is in the past tense, “saved”.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. It is an event that has already happened, or that happens when we accept Christ into our lives.

We see this in Philippians 2:12-13 that salvation is an on going process. The act of getting saved by Jesus Christ in this verse is in the present tense meaning that even after accepting Christ, God will still work out our salvation in us by His grace that no one will boast of his own works.

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

God works in us through us to bring perfection. That we may be Christ-like in our walk with God.

Salvation will come to a completion when Christ returns or when we die. this is confirmed in 1 Corinthians 1:8-9 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Matthew 24:13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

I bless the Lord for His saving grace, that While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. He took upon Himself to take all our shame, all our inequities and sins. This so that we may not face the wrath of God.
